Docteur du Pare-Brise gears up with digital signage

Docteur du Pare-Brise (DPB), a specialist in car windshield repair, has awarded a contract to Boisbriand, QC-based, Groupe VIVA , to install and manage an in-store signage network in its performance automobile accessory boutiques. The operator has been granted a contract to install the systems, manage the technology on a day-to-day basis and develop the content. Officially launched on October 1st at twenty locations, the network will mainly serve to display marketing, informational and promotional messages, highlighting products from suppliers & partners, such as Michelin and Yokohama. By December, around thirty locations should be equipped with the new in-store signage system with a total of about 50 later in 2010.

Mirada Media , a Montreal-based digital signage integrator, has announced that they were chosen to install a digital menu board at Vua, a new Vietnamese submarine sandwich quick-serve in downtown Montreal. The restaurant was fitted with a 5-screen digital menu board and two dining area screens that combine broadcast TV and in-restaurant promotional messages. Four of the five LCD menu screens display menu items with an animated area informing the patrons about product category details, specials, and high-margin items, and inciting them to upgrade to a "combo" meal. The fifth central screen displays a loop of promotional videos to push Vua's loyalty program, prepared counter items, like sushi, and refreshing smoothies and bubble teas. Vua, which literally means "king" in Vietnamese, wants to rule the submarine sandwich market with its value-priced baguettes and novel marketing efforts. McDonald's Canadian Digital Menu Boards Change Based On the Weather

McDonald's McDonald's has been testing digital menu boards at certain Canadian locations that change based on the weather, according to Business Insider . The system monitors the outside temperature and will switch to promoting products that it knows sell better at certain temperatures. For instance, it may recommend heartier meals or hot drinks during cold weather. In addition to the weather, the digital menu boards have day-parts to feature breakfast products in the morning, then switch over to items that are more appropriate to lunch. These time and weather synchronizations are tied to animated food images to engage customers and promote certain products. According to McDonald's US President Mike Andres, these changes lead customers to spend more on every transaction in restaurants where the new menu boards were tested in Canada. The tests seem to have been quite successful as the new digital menu boards will be installed in all US restaurants by the end of 2016.
